Rev. Shawn Radell Nunn is a native of Ocala, Florida, born to Deacon Willie Ray Sr. and Annie Nunn. Growing up in a home with three other brothers rooted in faith and love, he was nurtured by strong spiritual values that would later become the cornerstone of his life and ministry.
A proud graduate of Vanguard High School, Rev. Nunn pursued higher education at the University of Florida, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in human resources and Growth Development and was a member of the 1996 National Championship Gator Football team. Since 1994, he has been a proud member of Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity Inc. His academic, athletic and fraternal experiences have equipped him with the leadership skills necessary to manage church affairs with wisdom, strength and a deep sense of responsibility.
In December 2008, Rev. Nunn met his beloved wife Tonya Nunn, and they were married February 21, 2009. That same year, Reverend Nunn accepted the divine call to ministry under the guidance of Reverend Keith E. Blunt, who is the brother of his wife, Tonya Nunn, marking the beginning of a profound spiritual journey. Together, Rev. Nunn and his wife are blessed with wonderful children, Shawn Jr., Jasmine, Caleb, Matthew, Micah and Isaiah.
Rev. Nunn faithfully served under the mentorship of Pastor Keith Blunt for 13 years, where he honed his pastoral skills and developed a deep theological understanding and cultivated a heart of service. This period was instrumental in shaping him into the devoted servant of God that he is today.
In 2022, Rev. Nunn’s journey took a significant step forward when he accepted the call to serve as the pastor of United Missionary Baptist Church in Reddick, Florida. His leadership at United Missionary Baptist Church was characterized by a deep commitment to spiritual growth, community outreach, and compassionate care for his congregation. His leadership extended beyond the pulpit, as he took on significant roles as Vice President At Large for the Ministers, Deacon, Laymen’s & Youth Congress Auxiliary of Second Bethlehem Baptist Association in Ocala, Florida. Rev. Nunn provides spiritual guidance and leadership to many, demonstrating his dedication to serving God’s people in multiple capacities. The passing of Pastor Keith E. Blunt in 2023 was a profound loss for Rev. Nunn, both personally and spiritually. However, the teachings and influence of his late mentor continue to resonate deeply in Rev. Nunn’s ministry. He honors Pastor Blunt’s legacy by carrying forward the values of love, faith, and service that were instilled in him during their years of ministry together.
In August 2024, Rev. Nunn embraced a new and exciting chapter in his ministry by accepting the call to become the Pastor of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. With unwavering faith and dedication, he leads and inspires the congregation, carrying forward a legacy of love and service. Rev. Nunn lives by the belief that “Love Makes The Difference,” a principle that he strives to embody in both his ministry and personal life. Above all, he is a man who loves the Lord, and his life’s work is a testament to his commitment to spreading God’s word and serving his community with dedication and compassion. He is deeply honored and humbled to serve as the esteemed Pastor of New Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church. He looks forward to continuing his faith journey with the congregation, leading them with love, integrity, and a steadfast commitment to God’s purpose.
